It says it costs 54 mp to cast but costs way over 200.

Depending on how many songs and dances you already have each one will take more and more MP. Are you using it alone or after taking other songs/dances?

It is the last buff in my sequence. I guess I will have to test it out differently.

"Additionally increases MP consumption when singing when other songs/dances are in effect." All song and dance skills are the same, as you put them up they will each take an increased amount of MP. This means that only the first buff of your sequence will use the stated amount of MP. The passive skills inner rhythm and focus mind help increase MP regeneration, and if you're having trouble having enough MP to complete your buffs you can enchant them for decreased MP consumption. You could also just put your SWS in robes if it's nothing more than a buffer.
