prophet buffs

Hello, I just started playing here and saw that the features said basic buffs, but when i went to town I saw all the prophet buffs. My question is are prophets useless then since you can get all there buffs from an npc?

They get a couple of spells that you can't get from a NPC including pofire. You don't want to make a buffing class your main though.
